Description & Use: Creole cooking is said to have originated in the homes of rich Louisiana planters who aspired to more refined French and Spanish culinary techniques than the provincial French roots and local ingredients which typified Cajun cuisine. Nevertheless, Creole food also drew on local ingredients and was much influenced by African ingredients and techniques introduced by the slaves working in the planters’ kitchens.

Our Creole spice blend brings together tangy sweet paprika, onions, garlic and celery seeds with fragrant oregano, basil and thyme and a touch of heat from peppercorns and cayenne.  This classic blend is the basis of dishes such as gumbo and jambalaya.  Create your own Creole-inspired stew or casserole by adding it to the “holy trinity” of onions, celery and green pepper together with stock, tomatoes and poultry or seafood.

All Pinch spice blends are hand blended in small batches in our own kitchen in Hove.
