Quatre-Epices – Organic

Contains 100% organic herbs and spices: White Peppercorns, Nutmeg, Ginger Powder, Cloves.

Description & Use: Literally “four spices”, this is a classic blend used in France and the Middle East though there is some variation in the recipe and even some blends with more than four spices.  Quatre Epices can be found in a savoury or sweet blend, with white pepper in the savoury blend replaced by allspice in the sweet.  The savoury blend is used as a seasoning in the production of charcuterie and sausages and is said to be the original spice blend for the spice bread, pain-epices.

Our organic quatre epices is a savoury blend of whole white peppercorns and cloves toasted and ground and mixed with nutmeg and ginger.  Use it in beef stews and casseroles to provide a peppery kick with sweet, aromatic undertones, or add it as an ingredient to spice up homemade terrines or pate.

All Pinch spice blends are hand-blended in small batches in our own kitchen.
